Headaches
Manipulation and Dry Needling
"CONCLUSION: Upper cervical and upper thoracic high-velocity low-amplitude thrust spinal manipulation and electrical dry needling were shown to be more effective than non-thrust mobilization and exercise in patients with CH, and the effects were maintained at 3 months."
Neck Pain
Neck Cracking
CONCLUSION: "The combination of upper cervical and upper thoracic HVLA thrust manipulation is appreciably more effective in the short term than non-thrust mobilization in patients with mechanical neck pain."
Shoulder
Manipulation and Dry Needling
"CONCLUSION: Cervicothoracic and upper-rib thrust manipulation combined with electrical dry needling resulted in greater reductions in pain, disability, and medication intake than non-thrust peripheral joint/soft tissue mobilization, exercise, and interferential current in patients with SAPS. The effects were maintained at 3 months."
Back Pain
Manipulation and Dry Needling
"CONCLUSION: Patients with Lumbar Spinal Stenosis who received electrical dry needling and spinal manipulation in addition to impairment-based exercise, manual therapy and electro-thermal modalities experienced greater improvements in low back, buttock and leg pain and related-disability than those receiving exercise, manual therapy, and electro-thermal modalities alone at 3 month"
Knee
Dry Needling
"CONCLUSION: Individuals receiving the combination of electrical dry needling, MT, and exercise experienced significantly greater improvements in related-disability ... than those receiving MT and exercise alone at 6 weeks and 3 months. Patients receiving electrical dry needling were 1.7 times more likely to have completely stopped taking medication for their pain at 3 months than individuals receiving MT and exercise ... More patients (n=91, 75%) within the dry needling group achieved a successful outcome compared with the MT and exercise group (n=22, 18%) at 3 months. Effect sizes were large (standardized mean differences >0.82) for all outcome measures in favor of the electrical dry needling group at 3 months. Discussion: The inclusion of electrical dry needling into a MT and exercise program was more effective for improving pain, function, and related-disability than the application of MT and exercise alone in individuals with painful knee OA."
Dry Needling
CONCLUSION: "As a summary of the current available research, the network meta-analysis results indicate that acupuncture (dry needling) can be considered as one of the more effective physical treatments for alleviating osteoarthritis knee pain in the short-term."
Dry Needling
"Recent systematic reviews and meta-analyses provide strong and overwhelming evidence for the effectiveness of acupuncture (dry needling) in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. According to the Cochrane Database systematic review on acupuncture for peripheral joint osteoarthritis, Manheimer et al. found acupuncture to be associated with a statistically significant and clinically meaningful short term improvement in OA pain when compared to a wait list control. Additionally, this systematic review, which included 12 RCTs of patients with knee OA and 4 trials of patients with either knee or hip OA, reported statistically significant reductions in pain following acupuncture (dry needling) in patients with knee OA at 6 months when compared with sham acupuncture."
Plantar Fasciitis
Dry Needling
"CONCLUSION: The inclusion of electrical dry needling into a program of manual therapy, exercise and ultrasound was more effective for improving pain, function and related-disability than the application of manual therapy, exercise and ultrasound alone in individuals with PF at mid-term (3 months)."
